Still Life in Milford, Thomas Lynch 1998
The third collection of poetry by this poet, essayist, undertaker from Milford, Michigan. A bit heavy on his Catholic youth but full of wonderful poems about his Irish roots and cottage. The book was worth reading for the final eponymous poem in which he contrasts Milford and Ann Arbor using as a trope a painting by a Yale professor and artist which sits in the U. of Michigan Museum. Many connections make it a wonderful work—Donald Hall, Robert Frost, Harold Shapiro, U of M, Yale. Superb!
