A red mat with a map of the world on it.

Mapping it Out: An Alternative Atlas of Contemporary Cartographies, ed. By Hans Ulrich Obrist, 2014

In yet another alternative map book, 130 artists, anthropologists, authors, film directors, psychologists, designers, earth scientists, computer scientists, and others  construct maps for different themes:  Redrawn territories, Charting Human Life, Scientia Naturalis, Invented Worlds, and The Unmappable.  Mostly unknown, but with a roster of famous names (Kapoor, Baldessari, Ruscha, Hatoum, Bourgeois, Hamilton, Cattelan, Hirst, Eliasson, Gilbert and George, Ono, Barney) this is a beautifully rendered book filled with creative and mind-bending forms of visualizing the world on a two dimensional platform.
