Long Yesterday, Nathan Starr, 1972
A self published volume plucked from the shelf at Geoff and Genie Shields’ home in Vermont, Starr, a friend of the family, wrote in traditional rhymed verse about WWII, the atomic bomb, nature, old friends, poets (Stephen Vincent Benet!), and Christmas. Quaint, heart-warming, and lovely.
