Walking Home: A Poet’s Journey, Simon Armitage, 2012

A British poet undertakes the Pennine Way, 256 miles of hiking from the Scottish border to Edale in the Peak District National Park, spending 3 weeks plodding through rain and fog all day to arrive nightly at a pub or inn where he did a poetry reading, raising money for this project.  A fun book combining the humor and outdoorsiness of Bryson’s Walk in the Woods (Armitage also has a zany companion for part of the way) with high brow poetry.  Great concept; excellent execution.
