The Art-Architecture Complex, Hal Foster, 2011

A somewhat down and up, highly technical, and jargon-filled examination of how art and architecture can exist in this post-modern Period. Identifying the technological image making pressures of modern times in tension with the functionality of the earlier styles, Foster focuses on global architects (Koolhaas and Gehry) before turning to the Pop Stars of architecture, Rogers, Foster, and Piano (internationalists reconciling public and private interests, and utilizing technology as ornament), to two representatives of the ultra-modern digital architects (Haddad and Diller Scofido/Renfro), and finally turning to the Minimalist Museum and several current artists (Serra, Flavin, Terrell, and Irwin.).
