The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain, 1883
Often referred to as the book that marked the beginning of American literature, Twain’s tale of Huck, Jim, Tom Sawyer, the Dauphin and the Duke of Bridgewater, Aunt Sally and Uncle Silas and a “raft” of other memorable characters is a laugh out loud adventure story with great characters, insights, and feelings. Twain is truly a master as he uses his beloved Mississippi River as the backdrop for this tale of slavery and the South. A great read.
