A sign in the grass that says south hero.

The 251 Club refers to Vermont’s 251 towns and members of the club are those interested in visiting each and every one of these.  Susan (over her protestations) has joined me as we’ve driven around the state photographing the beautiful and varied signs that welcome one as you drive in, the general store, the post office, the school, and any other buildings of interest.  My favorite visits have been to the island towns in Lake Champlain near the Canadian border and my most memorable visits were the ones to Guilford, Wilmington, and Readsboro with my college roommate, Jeff Shields, the summer before he passed away in 2015.  As of this writing, we have visited 182 towns and hope to complete the list which comprises mostly towns in the distant Northeast Kingdom.
