Make Me, Lee Child, 2015

Maybe I’m getting old, or maybe Child is just getting more desperate, but this Jack Reacher book is beyond gross and credibility.  Having given up on any rational explanation of how Reacher gets into this latest situation and falls in (and into bed) with another beautiful woman, he has Jack get off a train in the middle of nowhere wheat country somewhere southwest of Oklahoma City in a godforsaken town called Mothers Rest simply because he is curious about how the town got its name.  C’mon!  Some 15 dead bodies later (but not including his girl friend who usually is killed during the final shootout), Reacher, Chang (former FBI agent and partner of the slain operative), and Wheeler (science editor of the LA Times) have solved the mystery of what happened to Michael McCann (who?!).  The custom made suicide site offered on the Deep Web turns out to be a custom made snuff movie site instead—-gross, not to mention the hogs.  This is likely to be my last Child book, though the flesh is weak.
