One  of the best Maigret books in a while finds Chief Inspector Maigret confronted with a well dressed vagrant found dead with three bullet holes in his chest in an abandoned house in Le Halles.  The case turns on an anonymous tip which brings Maigret back to a murder committed 20 years earlier and the two men involved resurface in this crime tale of a love triangle.  Good Paris street locations and a La Baule on the Brittany coast.  Marcel Vivien, Nina Lassave, and Louis Mahossier are the leading characters along with Maigret, Mme Maigret, Torrance, Janvier, and of course, Paris.
