Listening to Stone, Dan Snow, 2008

Snow is a dry-stone wall builder who works and lives in southeastern Vermont.  In this book, he describes nearly two dozen stone structures which he has built over the years for clients, neighbors and friends in the Brattleboro-Dummerston area.  His musings on stone, building, ancient forms and processes, and beauty are a lovely accompaniment to the photographs of his work.  The use of roundish stone rather than flat and vertical orientation rather than horizontal are not my favorites, but his work is impressive and his writing is excellent.
