Jewish Jocks: An Unorthodox Hall of Fame, Franklin Foer and Marc Tracy, editors, 2012

What seems like an oxymoron turns out to be accurate as 50 Jewish writers turn out 2-3 page summaries of 50 Jewish athletes, coaches, owners, and sportscasters from the famous (Hank Greenberg, Sandy Koufax, Sid Luckman) to the relatively obscure including a matador, a wrestler, a ping pong champion, and a woman basketball star.  Superb writing from David Remnick, Stephen Picker, Larry Summers, Jonathan Safran-Foer, and Howard Jacobson among others, pairs the traditional Jewish skill of writing with the uncommon Jewish skill of athletic prowess. Fun read!
