Gone Tomorrow, Lee Child 2009

A real page turner.  Jack Reacher is a real original—a homeless, former Army MP who has the ethics and curiosity of Spenser and the military skills of Rambo.  He inadvertently gets drawn into an Al Queda plot in NYC while riding the subway at 2AM.  A totally unbelievable and weird plot unfolds, but Child keeps the pace moving quickly with the over-used trick of delivering yet another surprise in the final line of nearly every chapter.  Great characters, violence, and a clever banter keeps one coming back for more.  Worth adding to my Mystery list of preferred authors.
