Gritty, crystal clear, achingly beautiful work by a poet whose origins include an alcoholic, abusive, and poor family and who overcomes those through love and empathy.  Waitresses, Texas, jigsaw puzzles all figure in these poems. One Cell:  “…Our cells retain it, pinched/sponges soaking up whatever we need/to keep walking, to keep stumbling into/the blinding darkness ahead.”  Powerful stuff
