Boutique Beer:  500 Quality Craft Beers, Ben McFarland, 2013

Read in conjunction with my project to taste all 3000 craft beers brewed in the US, this was a perfect introduction and detailed description of the craft brew phenomenon.  Starting with the details of how beer is crafted (hops, yeast, grain, and water) but short on the specifics and in great need of a glossary, this is a bit of a funky work with weird font, lack of clear structure, but terrific photos of beer labels, great descriptions of leading brewers and their breweries, and enough information to satisfy my need.  Eager to get to work on the lists of Desert Island Dozens in each major category.
