Artists Living with Art, Stacey Goergen and Amanda Benchley, 2015
A beautifully photographed and written view of the homes and art works of 30 artists almost all of whom live in NYC with a heavy emphasis on SoHo and the Village. Some of the artists are well known to me (Chuck Close, John Currin, Carroll Dunham and Laurie Simmons, Joan Jonas, Glen Ligon, Brice Marden, Joel Shapiro, Cindy Sherman, Pat Steir, and Ursula Von Rydingsvard) and others were new, but in all cases, the unique opportunity to view their own collections and how they display them was a treat. Meeting new artists like Marilyn Minter, E. V. Day, Mary Heilmann, and Leo Villereal was also quite wonderful. My favorite was Glen Ligon’s On Kawara date painting displayed with the day’s news box on the floor beneath it. Jealous!
