A Year at North Hill, Wayne Winterrowd and Joe Eck 1995

Organizing the year from April through March, the creators of the fabulous North Hill garden in Readsboro, Vermont give the reader the gift of gardening philosophy and beauty while packing its pages with practical pointers on trees, shrubs, perennials, bulbs, annuals, and design.  This is a treasure of a book, made more poignant by Winterrowd’s death since I first read it several years ago.  My scribbled notes await the spring to launch this new series of initiatives for gardening beauty.  In the authors’ words: “tie this book firmly to the calendar, using the arbitrary passage of the months as a scaffolding in which to arrange our experiences.”
