Atkins, the heir to Robert B. Parker, does a creditable job with Spenser, Susan Silverman and Hawk finding the murderer of Mattie Sullivan’s mother in Southie.  Jazz, good food, and violence mix in Southie and Back Bay to provide fast paced entertainment.  Atkins’ banter is not quite as funny as Parker’s but it will do.
