Travels with Epicurus, Daniel Klein, 2012

A 73 year old Harvard grad and successful author, Klein travels to Hydra, Greece to read Seneca, Epicurus (380 BC), Plato, Sartre, and Erikson in order to figure out how to age and die with grace.  He identifies some key principles (keep it simple, take pleasure in companionship, find comfort in commiseration and focus on living time, not clock time.  Living time involves play, idle thoughts, mental pleasures, autobiography narrative, and existential authenticity.  The gratification of a long marriage is a key element.  Good advice!
