The Mindfulness Survival Kit: Five Essential Practices, Thich Nhat Hanh, 2014
Another important work by this VietNamese Buddhist who starts with the Four Noble Truths (ill being, the path to ill-being, well-being, the path to well-being), moves on to the 9 Right Practices (Right View, Thinking, Speech, Action, Livelihood, Diligence, mindfulness and concentration) and finishes with the Five Mindfulness Trainings (Reverence for Life, True Happiness, True Love, Deep Listening and Loving Speech, and Nourishment and Healing). The second half of the book examines various ethical and philosophical schools, but the bottom line is that Hanh feels the world can be saved through mindfulness, concentration and insight enabling the practitioner to embrace non-duality and inter-being. A useful overview of the Buddhist meditation practice and basis.
